Frequently Asked Questions About Dog Training in Captiva
How long does dog training take in Captiva?
Training time depends on the program and your dog’s age, behavior, temperament, and training goals. Basic Obedience includes four private lessons, while Basic & Advanced Obedience includes eight. The adult Board & Train lasts two weeks. The Behavior Modification Board & Train includes a 3-week boarding period, two sessions before boarding, and one follow-up session approximately two weeks later. Your trainer will explain scheduling and realistic expectations during the consultation.
Do you train dogs around beach and tourist distractions?
Distraction proofing is included in the Basic & Advanced Obedience program, which works around distractions such as other dogs, people, and noises. The 2 Week Board & Train also includes distraction training and off-leash recall when applicable. Specific training environments, including beaches, boardwalks, wildlife areas, or locations near boat traffic, depend on safety, access, the selected program, and your dog’s individual needs.
What's included in your dog training guarantee?
Guarantees and included support depend on the selected program. The 2-Week Board & Train and Comprehensive Puppy-to-Adult Board & Train include free refresher lessons for obedience for the life of the dog. Off-leash recall is provided when applicable and in appropriate locations. Behavior modification programs do not guarantee that aggression will completely disappear, but they are designed to help owners improve communication, control, and management. Owner participation and consistent follow-through are important for maintaining progress.
Do you offer puppy training in Captiva?
Yes. Puppy options include a consultation for dogs five months or younger, five private Pawsitive Puppy lessons, and a 10 Day Board & Train for vaccinated puppies 12 to 24 weeks old. A daytime Puppy Foundation program is also available for puppies three to six months old. Program eligibility depends on your puppy’s age, vaccination status, needs, and training goals.
