Adult Dog Training Programs

Private dog training lessons provide one-on-one coaching based on your dog’s needs and your training goals.

Most dog owners notice progress across the first few private sessions, although results vary based on the dog, training goals, and consistency with practice between lessons.

  • Basic Obedience Training: Four private lessons covering come, sit, down, place, drop, loose-leash walking, and heel. The program also addresses unwanted behaviors such as jumping, counter surfing, and poor door manners.
  • Basic & Advanced Obedience Training: Eight private lessons that build on the Basic Obedience curriculum and add advanced commands and distraction proofing.

Private training may take place in your home, neighborhood, parks, or other appropriate real-world settings based on your dog’s needs, training goals, and scheduling.

Board & Train Programs

For dog owners looking for a more immersive training format, Board & Train programs allow dogs to work extensively with a professional trainer over a defined period.

  • 2-Week Board & Train: Available for dogs eight months or older. The program covers sit, down, loose-leash walking, on-leash heel in public spaces, come, place, no, greeting manners, door manners, an introduction to play, and training around distractions. Most training equipment is included, along with free refresher lessons on obedience for the life of the dog. This program is not designed for dogs with behavioral issues.
  • Day Board & Train Program: Available for dogs seven months or older. Dogs train Monday through Friday from approximately 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., depending on scheduling, and return home afterward. The program covers come, sit, place, down, heel, and loose-leash walking. Training tools are included, and owners receive a review of the week’s training and homework at Friday pickup.
  • Comprehensive Puppy-to-Adult Board & Train: This two-stage program begins with a 10-day puppy Board & Train between 12 and 24 weeks of age. Once the dog reaches eight months to 1.5 years old, the dog returns for a 2-week adult Board & Train covering formal obedience, training around distractions, and off-leash recall.

Owner participation remains important after immersive training. Continued practice helps reinforce the commands and expectations developed during the program.

Puppy Training Foundation

Starting puppy training early can help build communication, confidence, manners, and foundational obedience.

  • Puppy Training Consultation: Available for puppies five months or younger. The consultation covers house-training guidance, proper handling, an introduction to play, food rewards, basic obedience foundations, and answers to common puppy-training questions.
  • Pawsitive Puppy Lesson Program: This five-lesson program uses positive reinforcement, rewards, marker training, and clicker training. It focuses on basic obedience, play, socialization, confidence, sit, come, place, and loose-leash walking. A treat bag, clicker, and slip lead are included, while the owner supplies treats.
  • 10-Day Pawsitive Foundation Puppy Board & Train: Available for vaccinated puppies between 12 and 24 weeks old. The program focuses on foundational obedience, loose-leash walking, recall on a 15-foot leash, greeting manners, and socialization. The trainer helps establish a crate and house-training schedule, but crate training and housebreaking are not guaranteed.

Behavior Modification Training

Dogs experiencing aggression, reactivity, severe anxiety, timidness, or issues around other dogs may require specialized dog behavior training.

The appropriate program depends on the dog’s history, triggers, behavior severity, and safety needs.

  • Behavior Modification Lessons: This nine-lesson program includes Basic Obedience plus additional lessons working with the dog and owner around other dogs in different scenarios. Some dogs may require a separately purchased muzzle, and the trainer provides guidance on sizing and muzzle training.
  • Behavior Modification Board & Train: This program includes a 3-week Board & Train, two one-hour sessions before boarding, and one one-hour follow-up session approximately two weeks afterward. Dogs must be properly muzzle trained before the boarding portion begins, and the muzzle must be purchased separately.

Behavior modification focuses on giving owners and dogs better communication, management tools, obedience, and structure. Complete elimination of aggression or other serious behavioral issues cannot be guaranteed.

Specialty Training Programs

    • Therapy Dog Preparation: This eight-week, eight-lesson program prepares dogs and handlers for therapy dog testing and certification.

Upon successful completion, Off Leash K9 Training – Ft. Myers can evaluate the team and help with certification through Therapy Pets Unlimited.
