Frequently Asked Questions
Do you train dogs directly on Sanibel Island?
Yes. Off Leash K9 Training Ft. Myers serves Sanibel Island dog owners. The team can help recommend the right program based on your dog’s behavior, age, and training goals. We practice on beaches, shared use paths, and near wildlife areas so your dog learns to respond reliably in real island situations. In-home training ensures behavioral issues are addressed within your dog’s own environment.
Can you help with beach-specific behavioral issues?
Absolutely. Our dog trainers have extensive experience with sand, water, and wildlife distractions unique to Sanibel. We use structured distraction training methods to teach your dog to ignore shorebirds, crabs, and other marine life. Off-leash obedience training is a specialized focus area, aiming to achieve distraction-proof obedience that works in challenging beach environments.
How long does training take to see results?
Timelines vary based on your dog’s age, temperament, and the program type. Basic Obedience Training with 4 private lessons establishes foundational commands. Basic & Advanced Training with 8 private lessons adds distraction-proofing for more challenging situations. Behavior Modification programs require 9 lessons or 3 weeks of board and train for serious behavioral issues. We set realistic expectations during your free consultation.
Do you offer training for aggressive or reactive dogs?
Yes. Behavior Modification Lessons are available for dogs with aggression, reactivity, severe anxiety or timidness, and issues around other dogs. This 9-lesson program includes the Basic Obedience package plus additional lessons working around other dogs in different scenarios. The Behavior Modification Board & Train is a 3-week program with 3 additional one-hour lessons for dogs struggling with dog-on-dog aggression, dog-on-human aggression, or both. Complete fixes cannot be guaranteed for major behavior issues, but training can help owners build better control and management.
